Maurice Gauder

Maurice joined the CIE in 2015 and has experience across a range of areas including, infrastructure evaluation and regulation, demand forecasting, modelling health interventions and cost benefit cost studies. Previously Maurice was an Economist at the Reserve Bank of Australia.

Examples of his recent work include:

  • Cost benefit analysis and preparation of business cases for regional land use planning scenarios and associated infrastructure.
  • Undertaking peer reviews of several infrastructure investment programs across the transport and education sectors.
  • Developing a cost benefit analysis and strategic business case for the provision and maintenance of green infrastructure, including parks and open spaces, waterways, tree canopy and road side plantings.
  • Measuring the marginal financial and external costs of public transport to inform public transport fare structure, and undertaking public transport efficiency benchmarking.
  • Evaluation and monitoring of the impact of changes in stamp duty and land tax related to foreign purchases and ownership of residential dwellings on foreign investment activity and the broader housing market.
  • Preparing maximum demand forecasts for electricity distributors, including developing estimation methodologies and managing large data sets.
  • Developing a model for retirement village demand to examine the financial impact of changes to retirement village regulations.
  • Undertaking cost benefit and cost effectiveness analysis for several heath technologies and treatment pathways.

Maurice holds Bachelor degrees in Commerce (Hons) and Arts from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Economics from the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics.
