Cassandra Winzenried

Economist

Cassandra commenced work as an Economist for the Centre for International Economics in late 2009. Utilising her understanding of both economic and legal frameworks, Cassandra has been involved in economic and impact evaluation as well as regulatory review across a range of sectors. For both private and public sector clients, recent projects undertaken have spanned trade and industry policy, environment and water policy, health and social infrastructure policy, cost reflective fees and pricing and strategic economic planning and international development. Cassandra has experience in benefit–cost analysis; quantitative economic modelling and stakeholder consultation.

Prior to joining the CIE, Cassandra spent four years as an Analyst for Commonwealth Treasury, where she was responsible for providing macroeconomic analysis and forecasts for Australia’s major trading partners and monitoring global financial market developments. Whilst at Commonwealth Treasury Cassandra also provided economic analysis and policy advice related to Australia’s bilateral aid program and multilateral engagement strategy.

Cassandra holds a combined Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Business degree (Distinction) from the University of Newcastle and a Masters of Government and Commercial Law (Distinction) from the Australian National University.
