Amir Jilani

Economist

Amir is an Economist at TheCIE, having joined in early 2012 as a Research Assistant. He holds a dual degree in Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Commerce, with a double major in Finance and Political Science from the Australian National University (ANU).

Since joining TheCIE, Amir has been involved in a wide range of projects including an impact assessment analysing research investment in various regions of Afghanistan, an evaluation of small scale solar-grid parity and its implications for households and other relevant stakeholders as well as an identification of potential international opportunities for Victoria.

Amir has also had previous experience in international research and analysis. In 2009, he represented the ANU at the International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU) Global Summer Program at the University of California, Berkeley. Whilst at Berkeley, Amir was actively engaged in analysing an array of global development-related issues including conflict resolution, food and water security, poverty alleviation and the politics of aid. He then facilitated the establishment of a service-learning project designed to promote education in war-torn zones.

Prior to joining TheCIE, Amir worked within the Research School of Economics at the ANU as a Teacher Assistant in micro, macro and behavioural economics.

Amir can be contacted at our Canberra office.
