Economic impacts of migration in NSW

Economic impacts of migration in NSWAug 2013 report

NSW Trade & Investment commissioned the CIE to report on the economic impact of skilled and business migration on the NSW economy.  The report ‘The Economic Impact of Migration: An Analysis of NSW’ was completed in August 2013.

The report seeks to quantify the net economic impact of skilled and business migration in the NSW economy between 2012-13 and 2016-17.  It is estimated that over this 5 year period that NSW will take-in 194,000 skilled migrants.  The economic modelling in the report suggests that if this skilled migration was not to occur that the NSW economy would be 2.3 per cent smaller than otherwise in 2016-17.
