The CIE was asked by Vodafone Hutchison Australia to provide estimates of the price premium consumers pay for Telstra mobile and fixed line plans. The analysis shows that customers pay a substantial price premium to Telstra over other operators in both fixed line and mobile markets. This premium amounts to a total of $1.4 billion extra paid each year for Telstra mobile phone services above the average price for the same services by other carriers. This report was an update to previous analysis conducted by the CIE in 2014.
