Remembering Andy Stoeckel

On 22 December 2025,  the CIE’s Founding Chairman Dr Andy Stoeckel passed away. His celebration of life was held on Saturday 31 January, proudly attended by so many of his friends, family and colleagues who learned about the impact Andy had in all aspects of his life.

This year the CIE turns 40. One reason for our longevity is the lessons Andy taught through his life and his approach to economics.

Andy’s commitment to doing quality work, his sheer enthusiasm and genuine love of economics as a tool to help improve the world remains a crucial guide. Andy was both a remarkable person and a superb economist. The CIE stands as a testament to his commitment to sound economics and clear, clever thinking across many clients and topics. A list of Andy’s publications and a permanent record of his contributions to economic policy is available in his memoriam here.

Andy’s humour and exuberance for life will be missed. We are grateful to have been mentored by someone of his calibre and are proud to continue his legacy at the CIE.
