Natural Resources and Environment

Environmental management and protection is now at the forefront of policy debates — presenting all sectors of the economy with opportunities and challenges. How can we incorporate the environment into rational decision making? How, in the absence of markets, can we value the contribution of the environment to economic well being? How can we construct efficient markets for environmental services? These fundamental questions have been at the heart of our work on the environment in recent years.

The CIE has tackled a variety of environmental issues by delivering economic analyses that enhance the level of understanding among stakeholders about the nature, timing and magnitude of costs and benefits of actions to preserve the environment or actions that may ultimately harm it.

Our client base is diverse, comprising domestic and international organisations. We work with departments and agencies across all levels of government, as well as private companies and industry associations.
