The CIE was engaged by the Department of Regional NSW to undertake a comprehensive evaluation of the Snowy Mountains Special Activation Precinct (SAP). A key objective of the Snowy Mountains SAP is to drive the economic development of the region through increasing tourism activity.

As part of the evaluation, the CIE considered the region’s key problems and opportunities, the nature of the visitor economy and the overall tourism context for the region. The evaluation also estimated what the future population and visitor profile would be based on current trends (such as climate change), and the expected uplifts that would occur under different investment and planning conditions.
