Director, Health Economics and Policy
Sarina is a Director and senior economist with over 17 years consulting experience advising private on policy and funding issues in the health and human services. She has led engagements in health policy and strategy, health workforce, health funding models, and economic modelling of health interventions for government agencies and departments, health providers, and health industry associations.
Her key areas of expertise include:
- Economic analysis of market dynamics in various health markets, such as the private health insurance, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and community service markets
- Evaluation of health and human services policies, funding models and health interventions, particularly initiatives to improve hospital performance and the cost effectiveness of non-hospital based models for delivering health services
- Quantitative modelling. Sarina has built several health sector models to provide robust quantitative analysis to support evidence based advice, including relating to cost effectiveness of hospital-in-the-home care, and changes in pricing models for pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and residential aged care
- Health workforce evaluation. Sarina has undertaken several health workforce productivity reviews to improve labour productivity measurement and management without adversely affecting patient outcomes.
